Of all titles Lowen Reid has earned in her life—college drop-out, bisexual disaster, or even terrible jewelry salesperson—fulltime hater of all things ‘love’ seems to fit her best. When life got expensive and she was forced to leave Old Dominion University, she had no choice but to take the first job she could find: selling something she’s learned not to believe in. 

 

Matias Fischer, on the other hand, is new in town and following his dreams of stardom between shifts at his uncle’s coffee shop. His tendency to panic anytime someone cute offers him a smile has gotten him into trouble more than he’d like to admit. If he’s not overthinking, he’s probably still overthinking.

When Matias finally visits Lowen’s jewelry store thanks to his meddling uncle, it’s no surprise that their meet-cute turns into a full-blown meet-mess. After accidentally saying he’s there to shop, Lowen finds herself helping a flustered stranger put a ring on layaway for a nonexistent fiancée. Now, telling the truth could cost Matias a real shot at love, but keeping up the ruse might just be worse as lies crumble and friendships are tested.
