Layaway Heart

Lowen Reid—college dropout, bisexual disaster, and horrible jewelry salesperson—is known by her coworkers as a fulltime hater of all things “love.” After all, it’s not easy selling something you’ve learned not to believe in. She’s just about given up when she bumps into Matias Fischer, the nephew of the coffee shop owner inside the mall where she works. As a bumbling musician, he’s chasing his dreams of stardom between shifts at the cafe. His ability to overthink even the smallest of smiles from someone cute deserves its own case study. 

Shortly after their run-in, Matias finally visits Lowen’s work, no thanks to his meddlesome uncle. It’s no surprise to anyone that their meet-cute turns into a full-blow meet-mess. Though he didn’t intend to lie, Matias suddenly finds himself putting a ring on layaway for a fiancee that definitely doesn’t exist, just when Lowen was beginning to think that she’d potentially met someone nice. Telling the truth could ruin everything, but keeping up the ruse means prolonging the inevitable backlash as hearts ignite and friendships are tested.
